Paul Shattock O.B.E. is Director of the Autism Research Unit at the University of Sunderland, and father of a 31-year-old man with autism. After teaching pharmacy at the University of Sunderland for over 30 years, Paul took early retirement to devote all his time to the Unit and its research activities, looking at factors such as diet, urinary analysis and environmental factors in connection with autistic spectrum disorders.

Dr. Mike Tettenborn is a Consultant Paediatrician based at Frimley Children’s Centre in Surrey, with a special interest in Educational Medicine and in allergies. He developed an interest in allergy and food intolerance 22 years ago, largely from hearing what parents were saying about their children's presentation, at a time when the term Food Intolerance had not even be 'coined'. Since then he has continued to develop this interest based on a large amount of clinical experience.

Barbara Powell (Barbara the Bread) is a former cookery teacher and has also run a catering company in Hampshire and Cornwall. Having food intolerances herself and continually being asked for recipes suitable for different diets she decided to set up Barbara's Kitchen Ltd., a company that provides lots of information, starter packs of ingredients and a recipe book which she amends to suit each person’s own set of intolerances. All her recipes for children on the autistic spectrum are totally free from gluten, dairy, monosodiumglutamate (msg - dga) and aspartame, and many recipes can also be free from egg and sugar/yeast.
