Can you help?

I am a current third year Psychology student at St Andrews University, with the view to doing a doctorate in Clinical Psychology after graduation. However, to prepare for this, I am keen to get work experience from June until September 2011. Could you help?

In the past 5 years, I have had many experiences relating to psychology, all of which I have found thoroughly rewarding. However I wish to gain more experience in all areas relating to clinical practice and I believe that doing so will not only improve my understanding in the lecture hall, but also prepare me for my clinical training.

After a difficult education at secondary school, I have proven myself academically, as is demonstrated not only by my offer to study at St Andrews, but also in my grades, consistently ranking in the top of my year. However I think my biggest strength is in my long history of experience with autistic spectrum disorders.

My initial curiosity in psychology was sparked when my first brother was diagnosed with autism, and again later, when I was diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome. Since then I have given lectures to teachers, SENCOs, parents, and practitioners on the subject. I have also been called in by schools and psychologists to consult on individuals experiencing difficulties. I have also written a book on Aspergers Syndrome, which is currently in the process of publication by Jessica Kingsley publishers.

Ideally I would love to be able to work on a voluntary basis shadowing an assistant or Clinical Psychologist, although I would be delighted to do any voluntary work that gives me the chance to get some valuable experience in the field.

If you think you might be able to help, then please email me using the contact form. I can provide you with a full CV.
